Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) Co-Investigator

Le Jiang, PhD, is a Scientist within Viral and Rickettsial Diseases Department (VRDD) at Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) since 2016.  His research has been focused on molecular detection, immune response and vaccine development for a group of vector-borne rickettsia or rickettsia-like pathogens through assay development and advanced animal models.  In addition, his group develops and utilizes serological assays to conduct epidemiology studies in endemic areas for several vector-borne infectious diseases.  Prior to joining VRDD, Le has led various research projects including mechanistic studies of tumor suppression, epigenetic regulation in tumorigenesis and nuclear reprogramming in farm animals.  These were accomplished using high throughput profiling technologies such as RNAseq and oligo microarray.   Le currently serves as PI and Co-PI on multiple collaborative studies on vaccine development for scrub typhus and surveillance of military-important infectious diseases.
