Dr Janerose Mutura is a 2nd year MSc student at the University of Edinburgh pursuing an MSc in Conservation Medicine. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and a post graduate certificate in infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response from the University of Nairobi. Prior to joining the project, she worked at a conservancy along the Kenyan coast rehabilitating primates and worked with international researchers working on different primate projects. She has also worked with the Kenya Wildlife Service to perform genetic studies to determine the prevalence of bushmeat in certain parts of the country.  Dr Janerose is keen to develop a disease surveillance system using wildlife as sentinels to have an early warning for disease outbreaks.
