Brooke Rodriguez

Brooke Rodriguez graduated with the Class of 2024 at the University of Notre Dame.  She earned her BS degree in Mathematics with a supplementary major in Environmental Sciences, and she was a member of the Glynn Family Honors Program.  She was also a Trustey Family Scholar at Notre Dame. Brooke joined the REDI-NET team in the Fall of 2021 working with the mathematical modelers within the Perkins laboratory. In January 2022, she was able to work side-by-side with the scientists at the Navy Entomology Center of Excellence to learn about field sample collection as it pertains to the data feeding into the outputs the modeling team develops and maintains. She presented this work at the 2022 College of Science Joint Annual Meeting. She continued her research by exploring the added value of the Biomeme Franklin® RT-PCR instrument for use in the REDI-NET program. With this, Brooke traveled to the Belize Vector & Ecology Center to gain first hand experience with this portal instrument in field station conditions. This project was presented at both the 2023 and 2024 College of Science Joint Annual Meeting held at Notre Dame.
