Cameron Osborne, postdoctoral research associate at the REDI-NET’s University of Arkansas Gold Lab, recently met with Staffers from the office of Senator John Boozman, the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. Other attendees included department heads and high-level administrators from the University's Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. The presentation primarily focused on the University’s unique ability to bridge the human-animal interface with a focus on detecting zoonotic transmissions. By showcasing the new technologies and capabilities provided by funding through the REDI-NET program, Dr. Osborne was able to inform the audience of the potential for the University of Arkansas to become a global leader in emerging infectious disease surveillance, provided appropriate resources are available.
