Scientists, Hsiao-Mei Liao, Ph.D. and Le Jiang, Ph.D. from the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC), present their research at the One Health Research Posters Symposium—an event organized by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the Smithsonian. The main goal of their research is to simplify and improve the sequencing step of metagenomic profiling for pathogen surveillance by developing a protocol based on nanopore sequencing that integrates DNA and RNA testing in a single library preparation to allow the simultaneous detection of bacteria, viral, and eukaryotic pathogens.
