The REDI-NET program is excited to be partnering with Vectech to develop rapid tick identification technology! MosID was originally designed for mosquito identification. To translate the technology to identify ticks, we are gathering image data from ticks around the world.

Pictured here is Caroline Pitts, a Notre Dame undergraduate student, using the Vectech prototype to image ticks collected in Belize. These images will be compared to images taken with the Dinoscope and used to develop an algorithm that allows the prototype to provide the identification of the tick sample by image alone.
